Belfort was founded in 2013 with the goal to provide southern Taiwan with high quality western dining experiences. Since then, co-founders Danny Huang and Julian Manz have managed to grow the company into a diversified, multi-faceted brand. With three restaurant locations in Kaohsiung, it has attained a strong social media presence and was featured in multiple local and national newspapers, blogs and TV programs. Undertakings in the North of Taiwan as well as an international partnership are already in the conception stage.
Most recently, adapting to this year’s global developments, Belfort has broadened it’s product portfolio and launched a line of gourmet sauces that can be purchased on-site as well as online and enjoyed at home. Not only has this led to an additional source of revenue – thereby strengheting the company’s foothold in a competitive food & beverage market – but also to increasing nationwide brand awareness.

At Belfort, we’re looking for professional business partnerships with qualified investors that share our values and passion for the restaurant industry and want to build a brand that is taking a leading position in its category. Prospective partners must be knowledgeable operators with a focus on superior food and service quality in alignment with our operating and branding standards.
The amount of liquid capital needed to open a Belfort restaurant is largely dependent on the size and location of the store, exact numbers are therefore hard to predict. However, we roughly estimate cost of 100.000 NTD per seat (e.g. 50 seats x 100.000 NTD/seat = 5.000.000 NTD) plus 15% of that amount as a safety reserve (e.g. 5.000.000 NTD + 750.000 NTD = 5.750.000 NTD). Please note that a franchise fee is not included in this exemplified calculation and needs to be added accordingly.
We will charge an initial franchise fee of 980.000 NTD, which will be directed towards covering our cost of overseeing planning, construction, training and opening of the franchise. Furthermore, once the franchise is operating, the franchisee will be obligated to pay monthly revenue-based royalties of 5% plus 1.5% as a contribution to corporate marketing efforts.
Once the franchise contract is signed and the store location determined, construction might take anywhere between 3 to 6 months to complete, depending on the pre-existing condition of the space. In case of a current Belfort facility nearby the new franchise, staff training can already be started during time of construction. Otherwise, it has to be held in the new store once the space is ready for use. This will add a few weeks before the restaurant is ready for the grand opening.
The restaurant’s location is ultimately determined by the franchisee. We will assist in the process and provide advice to the best of our knowledge and experience.
We will provide the franchisee with basic plans for kitchen and floor layout that will be refined and customized by the team of architects that take over store construction. We will suggest to hire design & architect firms of previous partnerships, however, the ultimate decision and responsibility of hiring such firms lies with the franchisee.
We will integrate you in our supplier network and advise you on equipment purchase & setup.
We will provide the franchisee with regular menu & product updates as well as instructions on specific marketing activities. Our team will also always be available for consultation on problem solving and improvement suggestions. Furthermore, we will schedule periodic quality control meetings with the franchisee.
With a combined experience of well over 40 years in the hospitality and restaurant industry shared between the two founders alone, Belfort is built on knowledge and insight. In particular, running restaurant businesses as entrepreneurs for the last 10 years has led to continuously refined and optimized systemic operations and a strongly established brand in the dining market. Our formula for sustained success is firmly based on quality and consistency, which we regard as absolutely imperative. With future franchisees, we are happy to share our insights in order to provide the best support possible for a successful business partnership.
